Open a Corporate Bank Account

Opening a bank account is an essential step in running your Dutch BV, even though there is no longer a legal requirement to maintain a Dutch bank account. While the minimum capital requirement has been abolished, most businesses still need a reliable banking partner to handle transactions, payroll, and day-to-day operations.

Over the past years, Dutch banks have tightened their procedures for opening accounts. Directors are required to visit the bank in person, provide identification, and complete all necessary compliance checks and forms. This process can be complex and time-consuming, especially for international entrepreneurs unfamiliar with Dutch banking requirements.

In many cases, accounts can be opened instantly during your visit, though the timeline may depend on your corporate structure and nationality.

While our priority is to open a Dutch bank account, we always recommend having a contingency plan — such as an offshore or fintech account — to avoid delays and ensure business continuity.
